π Non-League Game | Tar Heel Kings @ Reidsville Luckies π
Luckies fall in extra innings, 16-14
Despite five Reidsville Luckies tallying multiple RBIs, the Tar Heel Kings defeated the Luckies, 16-14.
The Jocks of Jaycee Park deserve some credit. Down 9-1 heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, they tacked on an astounding eight runs. In the fifth inning, they kept those bats hot, finally seizing the lead with three runs scored.
Basketball is usually referred to as a game of runs, but baseball is technically the real game of runs. All jokes aside, tonight the blessings came in bunches, as when the Kings scored nine runs, the Luckies answered with twelve. Now, it was the Kingsβ turn once again, and they put five runs on the board.
In the bottom of the eighth inning, Reidsville put up two runs to knot things up, but unfortunately, in extra innings, the Luckies couldnβt match the two runs scored by the Kings.
While it was a bumpy ending to the game, there were positives. Zachary Cimino and Calvin Keesler each hit 3 RBI, while Maddox King, Cal Nielsen, and Ryne Rodrigues added a couple. Also, former Lucky of the Game Brian OβConnell III pitched two innings tonight, a shocking sight as he is usually the battery member behind the plate. He only allowed one hit and three walks, along with no earned runs.
Extra Bases
The end of the season is upon us.
Tuesday, the Luckies play the Clayton Clovers in a doubleheader at Jaycee Park.
Wednesday, the Luckies head to Optimist Park to take on the Oak City Gliders.
Thursday, they finish their game against High Point, before an entirely new game will take place that day at Ed Price Field.
Friday and Monday are games against the Wake Forest Fungo, one of which will presumably be a doubleheader to round out the season series.
Next Saturday will be another game in Raleigh against the Gliders.
Next Sunday will be against the Carolina Yankees.
Finally, the season ends on Tuesday, July 23rd, against the Clayton Clovers at JC Park.
Hopefully, the Luckies can extend the series into the playoffs over this next week-and-a-half.
