π Doubleheader, Game I | Clayton Clovers @ Reidsville Luckies π
Clovers take first game of doubleheader, 9-5
REIDSVILLE, NC β A little over a week ago, the Luckies traveled to Clayton and played two innings. With both teams scoreless, the game was postponed due to a downpour of rain.
The game was finished at Jaycee Park on Tuesday afternoon, the first-half of a doubleheader. The Clovers took over in the third inning, which was really the first inning of play at JC Park, with four quick runs. They tacked on another one in the fifth.
In the sixth, Reidsville tried to mount a comeback with a four-run inning of their own. However, Claytonβs offense continued to fire on all cylinders, and they would win, 9-5.
Nigel Robinson and Myles Odom each put up multiple hits, while Maddox King had a solo-shot home run. Brennan Fleming, Zai Graves, Brian OβConnell III, and Malik Frails were the Luckies on the mound, none of whom pitched three full innings.
Extra Bases
I talked with Zai Graves, who came to the Luckies midway through the year to bolster the pitching staff, about his baseball career, why he became a pitcher, and what led him to the Luckies.
On-Deck
The second-half of the doubleheader takes place right after this.
