🍀 Away Game | Reidsville Luckies @ Wake Forest Fungo 🍀
Luckies mercy ruled in first-ever game against the Wake Forest Fungo
The Reidsville Luckies had a rough outing at North White Street in Wake Forest, as the Fungo used two big innings to pull away and put the game away in seven innings.
The 10-0 shutout is a blow to Luckies fans, as Lucky City was previously undefeated and coming off of wins against Danville, High Point, Oak City, and the NANT.
After going up one run in the first, they scored five runs in the third inning and tacked on four more in the fifth. Since the Luckies couldn’t pull within nine before the end of seven, the game was called.
This is a rare shutout loss for the Luckies. This only happened twice last year, both against then-divisional opponents the Sanford Spinners. But, the Luckies also won a mercy rule against the Spinners, so it shows you how much baseball can change from game to game
If you want to prove to yourself that this loss is not detrimental, look no further than the fact that the Fungo got mercy ruled, 1-11, by the Clayton Clovers, and then turned around and beat the Clovers by five just five days later. All that is to say is don’t dwell on this loss too much, as the Luckies will undoubtedly bounce back.

On-Deck
If you’re in Rockingham County this weekend, you have plans. The Reidsville Luckies play twice, first on Saturday at 5 PM and then at the same time on Sunday afternoon. The Luckies play the Carolina Yankees first, before taking on our new arch rivals, the High Point Hushpuppies. If you want some pregame analysis about those games, check out the podcast Joe Dexter and I recorded, in which we talked about the upcoming games, the hot start by the Luckies, and interviewed reigning Moment of the Game winner Ryne Rodrigues about his huge walk-off homer against the Oak City Gliders.
