๐ Away Game | Reidsville Luckies @ Oak City Gliders ๐
Tie game rained out in the top of the fourth
North Raleighโs baseball team hosted the Reidsville Luckies on Autism Awareness Night. The Gliders supported Autism Society with tonightโs game against Lucky City.
Unfortunately, much like yesterdayโs game, rain began to fall at Sanderson High Schoolโs baseball field. In the top of the fourth, with a double shutout, the game was called off.
As mentioned before in the Luckies Ledger, there are no empty days on the schedule. According to the Oak City Gliders Facebook page, they are unsure whether the game will be rescheduled. I assume this will go in the standings as a tie or a non-game.
Extra Bases
There have been a lot of newcomers to the Luckies Ledger in 2024. So, for you new readers, last year, at the end of the season, though the Luckies did not make the playoffs, we kept a watchful eye on what was going on.
That was because Joe Dexter, โSantaโ Eric Smith, and I competed in the Bracket Battle of the Broadcasters, in which we did March Madness-style predictions before the postseason took place.
And unfortunately, I was the only real loser. Eric Smith won the title due to correctly picking the Pineville Porcupines. And Joe Dexter is a Detroit sports fan, so winning third place is some sort of confetti-worthy accomplishment for him. And I was hung out to dry with second place.
This year, the tournament may or may not extend to more Luckies staff members than just Joe, Santa, and I. And sadly, there is no title belt for the winner. Eric would have lost it by now if there was one.
Most importantly, you fans get to cast your vote for who you think will win the title, and if you are correct, you get some recognition in the L||L! Melita Hatley, Jason Ramey Sr., and the aforementioned Eric Smith correctly picked the Pineville Porcupines to win the pennant last year. Be sure you are subscribed so you get to vote in the poll that comes out shortly after the regular season ends.
On-Deck
Hereโs an update you donโt want to miss! Tomorrow, not only will the Luckies be hosting High Point instead of vice versa, but the game will take place at 2 PM.
