🍀 Away Game | Reidsville Luckies @ Danville Dairy Daddies 🍀
Luckies don Sammies jerseys, score ridiculous twenty-two runs on just three XBH to take down the Danville Dairy Daddies
At Dan Daniel Memorial Park, the Reidsville Luckies showed some mercy and wore their Rockingham Sammies jerseys to match the terrible name of the Danville Dairy Daddies (🤮). However, they were merciless in how the game went, beating DDD 22-14.
However, this was not some wire to wire destruction of Danville. Rockingham was down, four runs to eleven, heading into the seventh inning. The Sammies scored nine runs in the seventh, and they had another nine-run inning in the top of the ninth, putting the nail in the coffin on the Dairy Daddies.
Sam Melton and reigning Moment of the Game winner Zachary Cimino both went three-for-five, and Landon Parker went four-for-five. Of the eight players with two or more RBIs, Parker batted in three runs and Cimino knocked in three.
The offense deserves a lot of credit for getting this game back on the tracks with their eighteen combined runs in the seventh and ninth inning. However, this comeback likely doesn’t happen without a pitching change.
The Dairy Daddies had already put eleven runs on the board in the first six innings, but when Evan Penny came onto the mound, that offensive onslaught was stopped in its tracks. Penny, who recently graduated from Rockingham County High School, did not allow any runs in the seventh and eighth inning, while the Sammies scored eighteen consecutive runs. The Bluefield State commit allowed just one earned run in the bottom of the ninth, putting away Danville and completing the comeback.

The media really only does cover stories that make us upset. The Athletic of the New York Times published an article about the Dairy Daddies.

The name for the guys coming back from 2023 for the Reidsville Luckies has been decided by you, the voters!
The name we will have for Sam Melton, Cole McLain, Gavin Fleming, Ryne Rodrigues, and Jacob Trivette is the “Vermilions.” As explained in that edition, vermilion is a shade of red, one of Reidsville’s main colors, and the Roman numeral V stands for the original five that are coming back.
Last season, Jay Allred had played in 2022 and rejoined the Luckies mid-season. If we have another situation like that in 2024, all players in their second year with the Luckies are included, so Allred would have qualified.
On-Deck
It feels so good to not lose to a team with a cow as their mascot. Animal mascots are dumb, and I hope that the High Point Hushpuppies are reading this. Speaking of Hushpuppies, we play in High Point on Saturday night. Last year, the Hushpuppies beat the Luckies four out of six times, but hopefully, this year, the Luckies will get the best of our rivals.
This comeback win felt nice tonight, but the Luckies are no stranger to comebacks. The Luckies play the Gliders on June 2nd, 2024, the one-year anniversary of the Luckies coming back from down 4-0 to beat Oak City 9-4 in Raleigh. They also had a game of the year candidate against the Gliders, scoring ten unanswered runs to win it before the game got rained out, and two weeks after that, Kristian Amaro hit the infamous walk-off double to bring home Blake Freeman and Edwin Bowman IV.
