write-up for both games; six picks remain; the Bracket Battle of the Broadcasters standings updated; interview with Coach Chenzo Scanio
In Pineville, NC, two elimination games took place to decide who would advance to the Championship Series! The Hendersonville Honeycrisps took on the Clayton Clovers, while the Brunswick Surfin’ Turfs competed with the Pineville Porcupines.
2 Hendersonville Honeycrisps vs. 6 Clayton Clovers
The six seeded Clovers continued to make Johnston County proud by defeating the Honeycrisps in Mecklenburg County. The lowest seed in the bracket advances to the Championship Series after their 8-5 win over Hendersonville.
1 Brunswick Surfin’ Turfs vs. 4 Pineville Porcupines
It was difficult. It was exhausting. It was an all-out slugfest. But the Pineville Porcupines showcased why they’ve been able to make this crazy run and stay alive. They got the better of the team with the best win percentage in the league, 14-8, after 15, yes, 15, wild innings.
Bracket Battle of the Broadcasters Updated Standings
1 Jay “the Kid” Ramey — 9 Points, 9 Max Points
2 “Santa” Eric Smith — 6 Points, 13 Max Points
3 Joe “the Voice” Dexter — 3 Points, 3 Max Points
The Porcupines busted three brackets, and now, only six remain. Of the poll I put up, four picked Pineville to win it all, while two picked Clayton. We’ll see who wins in the near future.
If the Clovers win the title, I, Jay “the Kid” Ramey, win the Bracket Battle of the Broadcasters, while, if the Porcupines win, “Santa” Eric Smith notches the victory.
