Sam Melton to return to Reidsville Luckies in 2024 | ONSL releases summer schedule
Announcement about two-time Lucky of the Game is exciting for Luckies fans
One of the most versatile players seen by the Reidsville Luckies last season, Sam Melton, has announced his decision to return to Jaycee Park for 2024. Currently playing for the Rockingham Community College Eagles, Melton was a two-time Lucky of the Game winner in 2023.
The announcement came via Luckies social media.
An interesting aspect of Melton’s game is that he looked comfortable everywhere. He even took over on the mound at times, and when we referred to him as a two-way player, he told us that he wasn’t. Joe Dexter, Eric Smith, and I were genuinely shocked, as he was very impressive when he took to the mound, and looked like he was right at home there.
If you want to see Melton in action prior to next summer, and get a preview of what we’ll see from the Georgia native, head to Gilliland Field as he suits up for the Eagles.
In other pleasant news for fans, the 2024 Old North State League schedule has been announced, and 23 games will be taking place at Jaycee Park.
The Reidsville Luckies will kick things off in May with back-to-back non-league games, first against the Rockingham High Schools All-County Team and then against the Greensboro Yard Goats. Reidsville’s first home league game will take place against their divisional rivals, the Oak City Gliders, on June 2nd.
