The Reidsville Luckies traveled to East Clayton Community Park for game two of the quarterfinals, and a potential first half of a doubleheader.
And unfortunately, the Luckies lost, 12-1.
Clayton scored two runs in the top half of the first inning, but Reidsville was quick to respond. In the bottom half of the first inning, they cut the lead in half, and loaded up the bases. With the bases loaded, however, they failed to capitalize.
And then the fifth inning happened.
The Clayton Clovers put up nine runs, and when Reidsville came up empty offensively, the Clovers tacked on another. After seven innings, with a 12-1 score, the Luckies were mercy ruled.
And that’s the season.
