π Doubleheader, Game II -- Reidsville Luckies @ Sanford Spinners π
Luckies fall, 4-7, split series with Sanford
The Sanford Spinners defeated the Reidsville Luckies, 7-4, to even up the doubleheader series.
While Travis Hammond and TJ Highsmith had two RBIs apiece, those would be the only runs the Luckies got on the board. The Spinners put up seven to seize the victory.
Extra Bases: A doubleheader calls for double the interviews. For todayβs edition of βExtra Bases,β you can hear my interviews with Jacob Trivette and Gavin Fleming.
Above is Trivetteβs interview, while Flemingβs is below.
Notes: The Spinners were securely in first place in the Central Division. That is, until the Sandhills Bogeys caught fire, going 7-3 over their last ten, while Sanford went 4-6. The Bogeys have nearly locked up the division title.
The Spinners went from the three seed to the six seed in a matter of just a few days. Theyβll make the postseason, but in a much worse spot than expected. Weβll likely see an opening round Central division matchup between Sanford and Sandhills to kick off the playoffs.

This loss especially hurts, because if the Luckies wouldβve won, they wouldβve leapt into third place in the division. Now, theyβre in last, but are still just half-a-game out of bronze.
Upcoming: Friday afternoon, the Luckies head to Raleigh for a game with the Oak City Gliders. Saturday, Reidsville will compete with the Kinston Wingmen in a doubleheader, before their last game at Jaycee Park takes place on Sunday in a game with the Bogeys. Finally, in their last game of the season, the Luckies will, once again, do battle with the Spinners.
