๐ Divisional Game | High Point Hushpuppies @ Reidsville Luckies ๐
Luckies fall to fried dough, 13-5
REIDSVILLE, NC โ It was another rough loss for the Reidsville Luckies, as the High Point Hushpuppies gave them a death by a thousand cuts at Jaycee Park.
Reidsville held a 5-3 advantage after five innings, but it all went downhill from there.
High Point slowly tacked on runs, scoring one in the sixth, three in the seventh, two in the eighth, and four in the ninth. Reidsville had no response, going scoreless from innings five to nine. Unfortunately, High Point got their first win against Lucky City this season, 13-5.
Lucky of the Game: Nigel Robinson goes two-for-four with three runs, scoring sixty percent of the Luckies runs
Nigel Robinson wins another Lucky of the Game, bringing that tally up to three. He is the second-ever with three LOTG awards, just one behind TJ Highsmith, the all-time leader at four.
Moment of the Game: Nigel Robinson powers it all the way from left field to home plate, ruining Caleb Hammondโs inside the park home run attempt
Now, some may disagree with this because it was partially Robinsonโs fault that Hammond had a chance at an inside-the-park home run. I strongly disagree.
Here is the context: Robinson bobbled the ball in left field and had trouble getting to it, leading to Hammond rounding the bases. Robinson then launched it to home plate into the glove of Cal Nielsen, who made the electrifying tag.
Baseball is a mentality game, one in which you have to compartmentalize your mistakes and move on to the next play or at-bat. It took Robinson about three seconds to get his thoughts in order and make the exceedingly difficult play, showing that he absolutely has what it takes.
And speaking of all-time Ledger awards, Nigel Robinson is now tied for second with Gavin Fleming for most-ever L||L awards with five, and weโre not even halfway through the season.
Extra Bases
Sunday afternoonโs game will only cost five dollars, and as usual, children ten and under get in for free!
On-Deck
Saturday, the Luckies are in Clayton, and, as mentioned, they play at home against the Oak City Gliders on Sunday.
