The Luckies had a tough game against the Marion Swamp Foxes, and were taken down, 8-1.
Extra Bases: Congratulations to Andrews Opata for notching the first-ever Old North State League Player of the Week Award for a Lucky. His out-of-this-world batting streak has been unparalleled by anyone throughout the year.
And to make it about one hundred thousand times better, the Sandhills Bogeys were salty about it on Twitter.
Notes: The Luckies still hold onto the third place spot in the Central Division, but that doesn’t get you into the playoffs. The Luckies need to pick things up if we’re going to see any postseason baseball in Reidsville.
Note that Jay Allred has been batting at the end of the order lately. I believe that Chenzo Scanio is giving the Luckies a second leadoff hitter with this, and there’s a lot less panic when the Luckies get to the bottom of the order. Great job by the manager.
Upcoming: The Luckies face the Sandhills Bogies (🙄) at Bogey Ballpark tomorrow. They’re in second place in the division, so the Luckies would really like to get a victory there.
