🍀 Away Game | Reidsville Luckies @ Clayton Clovers 🍀
The Luckies fend off comeback against team that wants to be the Luckies, winning 14-11
The Luckies own the cloverleaf.
In the top of the first, Lucky City started out strong with four runs. The Clovers scored three in the second and third innings, but Reidsville outscored Clayton, 6-1, in the fourth inning, giving them a 10-4 lead.
The Clovers refused to stay down after the Luckies went up, 13-4, scoring five more runs in the fifth. After seven innings, it was only a 13-11 lead, the Clovers had scored in each of the past six innings, and the Luckies had put nothing up in the sixth or the seventh.
In the eighth, the Luckies finally retrieved some momentum by scoring a run. Heading into the bottom of the ninth, Reidsville was up, 14-11, and Brennan Fleming came in to make the save. Fleming struck out two batters and only allowed one hit, allowing the Luckies to get the huge divisional win in their first game against the Clovers.
Sam Melton and Landon Parker recorded two-hit games, while Jacob Trivette went three-for-five with a home run and 6 (!) RBI. Aside from Fleming’s closing appearance, Cole McLain scored the win, and both Jasean Brown and Carson Moore also showed up on the mound to represent Reidsville.
Extra Bases
The Luckies take command in the Central Division! However, they really need to finish strong over these next three games to take a huge lead in the division, as, if you followed the Old North State League in 2023, division standings can change in the blink of an eye. The Luckies must take advantage of their momentum.
