It was a rough night in Burlington, as the Luckies lost in a low-scoring affair to the Sock Pups.
The Luckies only recorded four hits, with Ryne Rodrigues tallying two and Landon Parker and Calvin Keesler getting one apiece. Oddly enough, the Sock Pups only recorded three hits, but they still came out on top.
Sam Melton, Nolan Faulkenberry, and Malik Frails each threw one-hitters, with Melton going four innings, Frails going three, and Faulkenberry putting up one inning of work. But, unfortunately, wins are based on runs and not hits, and that’s why the Sock Pups came out on top.
Extra Bases
Joe Dexter of RoCo Radio gave us a great graphic to update us all on the Old North State League Central Division standings. If the Luckies finish in the top two, they will compete in the playoffs.
Extra Bases
Plenty of Luckies players made the leap to Burlington in 2024. Former Lucky of the Game and Moment of the Game winner Blake Freeman, brothers Justin Webb and Bryan Webb, and Asael Quiroz-Castellanos all missed out on their chance to become a Vermilion and a 2024 Old North State League Champion.
On-Deck
Gigantic moment in the season. This could possibly be the defining stretch that we look back at as either the time that the Luckies fell off, or the time that the Luckies unlocked their true potential.
Four divisional games in four days. In Clayton on Thursday, hosting Wake Forest on Friday, hosting Clayton on Saturday, and in Wake Forest on Sunday. The above graphic from Joe showed how the division has shaken up so far, and the Luckies are playing the second and third best teams in the Central twice this weekend.
It doesn’t get much better than this.
